Generations pays to play at LA Music Awards SCAM
The Generations Church-Cult Band "nominated" itself for an award (by paying for it) and is paying to perform at the 2011 LA Music Awards.
We had never heard of this awards show before, so we did some online digging and, somewhat predictably, discovered that this "awards" show is in reality a pay-to-play promotional event that requires an upfront cash "sponsorship" in order for bands to participate.
The whole thing is phony and the producer of the show, Al Bowman, seems like a bit of a carpetbagger from what we have dug up. Turns out Generations Cult apparently made a substantial sponsorship "donation" to the awards show (scroll down to see the Generations "World on Fire" banner on the website: http://www.myspace.com/lamusicawards).
Fact is, the LA Music Awards has the reputation of being a scam that takes money from gullible indie artists who are tricked into paying for an "award" at one of these phony shows to add to their credentials. The LA Music Awards even offers up "red carpet interviews" provided by these people http://www.realtvfilms.com/pricing.html. But in order to get your big phony celeb-like, 2-minute "interview" you have to fork up another $350-500. So basically the awards show is pretending to be something it isn't for cash gain, while posing behind a worthy cause of helping unknown bands gain exposure. Kind of ironic these two organizations are in business together, huh?

These award show sponsorships that Generations Cult is forking out are probably substantially expensive ... the money for which is all coming from the tithes and offerings of the good people who have been tricked into thinking Generations is a real church. All just to get the Generations Band some phony recognition.
It's interesting that Rich Witmer, Cal Witmer, and gang have linked up with another scam artist to further squeeze the wallets of their followers to support this BOGUS awards competition. Birds of a feather really do flock together!

Mentioning President Carter, (the second worst President next to Obama) doesn't carry any weight with me.
FYI... I have worked in the industry for 4 decades with a host of huge promoters and we never heard of you.

The best you could dig up are these two articles?come on. We are a marketingcompany. We brand logo's of sponsors on tangible products. We sell event tickets. We do a balloting system that is more than fair to the artists who participate. You are just hate filled jack asses who are looking for a scandal where one does not exist. Generations has a GREAT BAND. That is what we look for our events. Why don't you look at who our relationships are with? President Carter accepted an award from us in 2010 for Lifetime Humanitarian. Senator Max Cleland, a war hero, accepted the Literary Award last year from us as well. So have the biggest living producers of multi-platinum hit records. I have news for you losers: I am the Godson of Rock n' Roll. Unlike yourselves who are scummy low life's, I actually have pedigree in this business. No shady things going on here, just lots of hard work. We invite you to actuallycome and witness our voting process take place on 9/22 at the Whisky A Go-Go. Like any other valid process, whoever gets the most votes will win. Talent gets an artist on our ballot, but only popularity will get them the award. Just like it always has been in the music industry. My only question to you is, why don't you interview your subjects before making these attacks? Here is something for your readers to look at wwwyoutubecom/hollywoodfameawards which shows viewers the celebrity side of our program. Look at who we know, who trusts us enough to attend our events every year. Why don't you mention that? Better yet, why don't you identify yourselves by name so that we can use our connections in DC to do a little research on you? It is pretty obvious that we have a program that has existed for 21 years. A program that needs no defending because at the end of our process, artists end up with a marketing tool to give acompetitive edge in thecommercial marketplace. That is our main function with all of the work we do. By the way, in 2011 we received well over 10,000 music submissions. It appears that all of your hate speech didn't affect that part of our business. So, in conclusion, I will forward your accusations to my contacts in DC and see where that leads you to. How about an IRS audit? Better yet, how about a host of other problems you might now face for your false and defamatory statements. I will just bet that you won't have the balls to post this. But if you do, then I might actually give you a little respect.

I'm not sure if the abovecommentor is actually Al Bowman or not but I feelcompelled to list several holes in said individual's logic. Insults aside (for now), much of this person'scommentary is lost in the throws of an argument from popularity(argumentum ad populum). Having Presented awards to celebrities and famous folks as evidence of legitimate business dealings does not make this person's argument any more credible as it doesn't actually address the accusation of 'fraudulance' in any way. There are many businesses scams out there that use celebrity endorsements. I'm sure many of us are familiar with scientology, yes?
Secondly, the bit about presenting an award to a war hero is something that I personally find to be in pretty poor taste. This is clearly an appeal to emotion- again, to establish credibility. often times such awards are given to veterans by many institutions for any number of reasons. Usually, awarding vets (especially in a public atmosphere) benefits said business as it serves as a highly effective advertising stunt. The general public seems to be very pro troops these days regardless of their stance concerning America's foreign policy. It'd be naive thinking to assume that someone out there wouldn't think twice about developing a scheme to capitalize off the American public's emotional attachments.
Third, who EXACTLY is being addressed here when the accused writes; 'Unlike yourselves who are scummy low life's...'
Such a statement can be presented in court as evidence of libel- especially if this was addressed to a specific individual or individuals.

Really? Does this really even need to be addressed?
Empty threats. AL, if you wanted readers on this site to have taken you seriously, you would have been better off serving a subpeona thancoming on here to chat. Now, any potential court case you could have had has been blundered away by your lack of emotional control. Worse yet, all the evidence anyone could ever need is right here in type.

Total scam. Every year someone exposes him. Every year, the same bluster and threats. The guy is a 2-bit thug, at best. Bands pay for everything and he nevercomes through with even 1/64 of what he promises. Did you know that 2009's awards were aired live in Korea? Despite no tv truck for editing or transmitting? Etc. Etc. Etc. Kind of hysterical actually. I am pretty sure most of the other bands knew it was a scam too....at least eventually.
