Rich Witmer: My God is bigger than your God

The following e-mail conversation took place between Rich Witmer and a friend of mine on Oct 24, 2006. My friend comments on Rich's insults to me and questions his acquisition of a luxury car while members of his flock barely make ends meet.

My friends e-mail
: Anyone who is truly a spokesman for the Lord God Jesus Christ would not SAY the things you've said, the catty little bitch remarks and insults you've made because SOMEONE actually DARES to prove you for what you really are. A TRUE Christian leader would not need to harass and insult someone who disagreed with their point of view.

An HONEST, RESPECTABLE pastor wouldn't be driving an expensive ass car & bragging about his houses, while at the same time strangling the financial life out of the TRUE followers of Christ.

Rich's response: you're so sweet and are truly a fine example of a Christian young woman. I pre-ordered a 2007 BMW. God has blessed me tremendously. I guess my God is bigger than your God.

-Pastor Rich Witmer

well, I was under the impression that wether we call our God allah, buddah, or Lord we all have the same the God. Last thing I knew we had the same God, so I don't know where the Pastor gets his ideas from, but I am somewhat relieved my intuition was right, but I am sadden I lost someone I love to people like that. All I can do is pray he see's the truth, Gods truth not Pastors Rich truth.

I'm not sure how well this Pastor or any one of us knows this proverb: Mark 10:25, and Luke 18:25, "Do not accumulate wealth on earth, but accumulate wealth in heaven.
"It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
    * Many people that do want all possessions on earth end up in dept. and mostly seeking ways or people that promise wealth. My friends that is not what God wants for us.

I don't see how pastors can buy in good conscience new cars that depreciate in value most rapidly. I don't begrudge them having a respectable conservative car, but a 2007 BMW, though a fine car, is bought with monies received from people "giving to God". It just makes me gag to think a pastor would buy something so wasteful using money given as an offering. But a used one. What incredible exploitation this is. Bah.

And what about the poor widow who gave little but yet it was all she had? Who was her God? Why wasn't she blessed with the equivalent of a BMW? So many faithful followers of Jesus Christ are not wealthy.(not in the materialistic sense) I refuse to accept that they are simply not good enough according to the standards of Rich Witmer.

I've know of Generation Church since its commencement. I was pretty much told that if I wasn't a part of their "church," I was going to hell. I see this as a cult. No other religion will tell me that my religion is evil and that will go to hell if I don't convert. Any other true church (religion) will respect my decisions of belief. As for a Rich Witmer, he is a business man not a Pastor. God's home shouldn't be a corporation but a home to all.

I am so sorry you have gone through this. This church originated off of the Door church in Yuma. It is a cult. People who brag about riches that their God has gifted to them and because of their monetary value, God is bigger than yours, are not true Christian people. Yes, God wants to bless us further than we can even imagine. It is not always in monetary value. It is not even worth your time to address these people because they are narcissistic and think they are bigger than God. You need to just step back and let God. He will take care of the matter. They have now joined with the River church and it surprises me. I know Pastor McDonald at the River church and he has gotten all wrapped up into this G12 stuff, too. You see, the problem is that God is forgotten because too many people are looking for praise when they start their own G12 group. The focus is no longer on God and your right, it becomes a bit culty. Just pray for these people, they really need a touch from God and have no idea what the word Christianity means. God will take care of them. Trust me.
